How to convert WebP to JPG

  1. Drop your WebP files on the box, click Choose images, or paste. Up to 30 files can be converted together, and other formats in the same batch are converted too.
  2. JPG is already selected under Convert to. Quality 90% keeps the picture as close to the WebP as possible.
  3. Each file is converted in turn; the list shows the new size and any notes. Drag the preview divider to compare the original with the JPG copy.
  4. Download files one by one or click Download all (ZIP).

Why you end up with WebP files

Many websites now serve images as WebP because it is smaller: Google reports WebP 25–34% smaller than JPG at equal quality. When you save an image from a page, you often get a .webp file. Browsers open it fine, but some photo editors, office software, older phones, printing services and upload forms still expect JPG or PNG.

Converting to JPG is the most compatible choice for photos. For graphics with transparency or sharp text, convert to PNG instead with WebP to PNG.

Quality, size and transparency

Because WebP is more efficient, a JPG of the same picture is usually a bit larger. Our 386 KB sample WebP photo became a 384 KB JPG at 90%. If size matters, lower the quality to 80–85%.

WebP featureWhat happens in JPG
TransparencyFilled with the background color (white by default)
AnimationOnly the first frame is converted
EXIF and XMP metadataNot copied
ColorConverted as displayed by your browser

Choose the background color in the settings if your WebP has transparent areas and white is not right.

Converting a lossy WebP to JPG is a second round of lossy compression, so keep the quality at 85% or higher when the picture matters. If you only need to look at or print the image once, any quality from 80% up is fine. For a batch of product images saved from a supplier’s site, convert them all at once and download one ZIP.

Privacy

Everything happens inside this browser tab. Pixdesk reads your files with the browser’s own image decoder, redraws them on a canvas in a background worker and saves the new file with the browser’s encoder. There is no upload endpoint on pixdesk.cc, and the page makes no network request while it works. You can check that yourself in two minutes with your browser’s Network panel.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert WebP to JPG?

Drop the WebP files here, keep JPG selected and download. Up to 30 files at once, with a ZIP for the whole batch.

Why can’t I open WebP files?

Some older programs and devices do not support WebP. Converting to JPG makes the image open everywhere.

Will I lose quality converting WebP to JPG?

JPG is lossy, but at 90% the change is not visible in normal viewing. Use the comparison slider at 100% zoom to check.

What happens to transparent areas?

They are filled with the background color, white by default. Use WebP to PNG if you need to keep transparency.

Can I convert animated WebP?

Only the first frame is converted to a still JPG.

Why is the JPG larger than the WebP?

WebP compresses better than JPG, so the same image needs more bytes as a JPG. Lower the quality if you need a smaller file.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Pixdesk converts WebP to JPG inside your browser.
